When Prostitution Became Relevant, ABC News Was Ready

sawyer_3-17.jpgRush & Molloy write about an ABC News special on prostitution that is two years in the making in today’s New York Daily News.

The special had been pushed back various times, due to legal reasons and claims of pandering for ratings, according to the article. But with “Client-9″ and “Emperor’s Club VIP” still buzzing in the collective ear of news consumers, ABC News will air the special, “Prostitution in America: Working Girls Speak,” this Friday on 20/20.

An ABC News spokesperson tells TVNewser, “The special was slated to go in the summer series, but certainly with the timely hook it gave a reason to push it up.”

For the special, Sawyer spent time at the famous legal brothel, the Moonlite Bunny Ranch. Owner Dennis Hof (a frequent guest on the cablers recently) said to the Daily News, “She really hit it off with all my girls.” The special also focuses on streetwalkers in Philadelphia and high-priced Manhattan call girls, and will be updated to reflect the Eliot Spitzer scandal.
