As we told you yesterday, Jaycee Dugard‘s book, “A Stolen Life” sold more than 175,000 copies in its first day.
The success of the book can be attributed in part to Diane Sawyer‘s two-hour interview with Dugard Sunday, which was watched by 15 million people.
In addition to Dugard, Sawyer sat down with Bob Woodward and Donald Rumsfeld for their first interviews during the promotion for their books. Both debuted at #1 on the New York Times Best Sellers list. It is widely expected that Dugard’s will too for the Sunday, July 24 list.
Last September, Sawyer had an exclusive one-on-one interview with Bob Woodward to discuss his latest book “Obama’s Wars.” The interview aired on “World News,” “GMA” and “Nightline” and rose to #1 on the Amazon bestseller’s list, debuted as a #1 New York Times Bestseller, and was a Publishers Weekly Best Seller.
After Sawyer’s interview with former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for his memoir, “Known and Unknown,” the book shot to #1 on the Amazon best seller list the morning after the interview aired on “World News” and Nightline and spent eight weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list after debuting at #1.
