72-Year-Old Al Terzi Leaving Anchor Desk

terzi_croppedVeteran Hartford newsman Al Terzi is planning on leaving the anchor chair on March 31.

According to the Hartford Courant the anchor for FOX affiliate WTIC isn’t retiring, “but rather scaling back on his on-air duties at the station.”

“I will continue to do my political show, the “Real Story,” Terzi told The Courant. “But I am getting off the daily anchor desk.”

He said he started thinking about slowing down when he and his wife began making plans for their 50th wedding anniversary. “She talked about a trip to Europe and cruise for three weeks and I said half-kiddingly, ‘maybe now is the time for me to step back from the day-to-day work.”

Terzi worked at Hartford-New Haven ABC affiliate WTNH for 14 years and CBS affiliate WFSB for 28 years before coming to WTIC in 2012.
