Anchor Craig Wolf Fired After 17 Years with WBBH

Anchor Craig Wolf was fired last Thursday morning after more than 17 years with WBBH in southwest Florida. And he says that he doesn’t know why.

“I’m still no closer to understanding it,” Wolf told the Naples Daily News the day after he was let go. “I walked into work at 10 a.m. I was called into the general manager’s office at 10:05. By 10:10 it was all over. By 10:15 I was in my car.”

Wolf, 56, joined WBBH in 1993 as a reporter and was promoted to senior anchor in 1996. Most recently, Wolf helmed the NBC-affiliate’s noon, 5, 5:30, and 6 p.m. newscasts.

Wolf’s current contract was set to expire in August.
