‘Anchorman’ Director Says All Anchors Today Are ‘Ron Burgundy-esque’

In an interview with Salon about the recently announced sequel to 2004′s “Anchorman,” Adam McKay, the director and co-writer of both the original and the upcoming sequel, said that Ron Burgundy is actually more relevant today than he was when the first movie was released.

In his opinion, the character has become “more and more relevant” because news anchors have become more and more like him.

“We talk about all these anchormen on the air now and they’re all kind of Ron Burgundy-esque guys,” McKay told Salon.  “Sadly, the character has gotten more and more relevant as the news has gotten to be nothing more than a ratings-driven profit machine.” Full interview
