Boston’s WHDH Catches Falling Ice on Tape as It Wrecks Two Cars

A WHDH news crew was preparing to interview the director of the Boston Redevelopment Authority on Sunday when a huge mass of snow and ice fell from the roof of an Authority-owned building nearby, wrecking two parked cars as well as WHDH’s shot.

“We’ve actually protected the sidewalks,” Larry Mammoli, director of the Boston Redevelopment Authority, told WHDH after the falling mass of snow and ice crushed the cars. “But we weren’t anticipating that it would actually go into the streets.”

Catching the incident on tape, the WHDH news crew quickly switched gears and began reporting on the aftermath of the falling ice.

Reporter Susan Tran spoke to the owners of the damaged vehicles and followed up with the Redevelopment Authority, which issued a letter to the car owners saying that it would cover the damages. Video inside…
