Brian Williams Returns to KOAM
Brian Williams, in Joplin, MO this week to cover the aftermath of Sunday’s tornado, revisited the station where he got his start — CBS affiliate KOAM-TV. Williams spent 13 months in Joplin, MO in the early 1980s and dropped by to talk with executive producer and anchor Dowe Quick who has been with the station 31 years.
“(The people in Joplin) were fantastic,” Williams tells Quick. “In my little apartment complex I knew everybody. On Saturday’s we would gather at the pool and on Friday nights you would go up to the Red Lion to shoot darts and have a beer. I always went downtown.”
