Witte has worked at KFOX since 1996. His retirement comes months before the arrival of his first grandchild. “I am looking forward to that,” Witte told the El Paso Times. “My grandchild will be here in August. But this has been difficult. This has been my family for 18 years.”

KFOX is being acquired by Sinclair Broadcast Group. News director Elizabeth O’Hara said a new general manager has yet to be named.

O’Rourke posted a goodbye to his facebook page Tuesday saying, “Dear friends, thank you all for your friendship and wonderful support. Not by my own decision, I am leaving KTSM. I love El Paso and I wish you all the very best in your lives. God bless you and your families, now and always.”

According to police, Mathis filed a report alleging Horowitz punched and kicked him during an argument. The El Paso Times says the argument started after the two came back from a trip to Austin.

Mathis alleged Horowitz punched his right eye, breaking his glasses and causing a small scrape above the eye. Officers noted in their report Mathis also had “small scrapes and bruises” on his legs, some bruising behind his right ear and swelling on the right side of his upper lip. continued…

The weekday newscast will air on the El Paso ABC affiliate’s digital subchannel 7.2 and will be anchored by Stephanie Valle and meteorologist Karla Huelga.

“Since the El Paso/Las Cruces CW launched in 2007, we’ve wanted to provide the station’s viewers with news and weather,” said KVIA general manager Kevin Lovell.  “Now that the station is well established, we’re ready to use ABC7’s resources to bring CW viewers a newscast that’s an hour earlier than our ABC7 10 p.m. newscast.”

The station also announced weekend morning anchor Denise Olivas will replace Valle as co-anchor of the noon news with Bob Harp.  Olivas will also begin reporting for the weekday morning show, “Good Morning El Paso.”

The first newscast on the CW will air Monday, March 25.

Lissette Garcia

Garcia, who is Miss Florida 2011, previously worked as an associate producer and traffic anchor at WPLG, the ABC affiliate in Miami. She replaces Kandolite Flores, who left the station to join the Humane Society of El Paso.

Ric Dupont

“He resigned this morning,” news director Elizabeth O’Hara said Wednesday.

Dupont was arrested on October 30 at El Paso International Airport. He was held at the police airport on suspicion of being intoxicated and released to a friend without being charged or booked. A police spokesperson told the El Paso Times that Dupont became “uncooperative with officers at one point due to his intoxication.”

Dupont, who joined KFOX’s East Side Bureau  in 2011, was arrested on suspicion of DUI last December. That case is still pending in court.

Troy Campbell

Campbell comes from KTSM, the NBC-affiliate in El Paso, where he was a multimedia journalist. The move is a return to California for Campbell, who graduated from California State University in Northridge in 2010.

At KERO, Campbell will anchor the 11 p.m. newscast and report for the earlier newscasts.

Jim Gamble

Gamble was a weathercaster in the El Paso market for 20 years. He spent 10 years at KVIA, five years at NBC-affiliate KTSM and five years at CBS-affiliate KDBC.

Roy Ortega, a former KVIA anchor, recalled meeting Gamble for the first time in the 1980s. “I was actually there when he walked into the newsroom for the very first time,” he told the El Paso Times. “He had an audition. He had a natural talent for being on the air.”

“I’ve accepted an evening news anchor position in CA,” Campbell announced on Twitter. “I hope you all continue to follow me on my journey.”

No word yet on where Campbell’s new job will be. He is a 2010 graduate of California State University Northridge, in the San Fernando Valley. He began his career at KIFI, the ABC-affiliate in Idaho Falls.

Harsha joins the stations after five years at WCAX in Burlington, while Ayoub makes a return to the station after leaving two years ago after her three sons were born.

Ric Dupont, a reporter for the El Paso Fox-affiliate, and photographer Adrian Montes were sent out into the field to cover flooding in the area. They were both in the van at the time of the accident.

“I was working from the back of our van and my photographer, Adrian, was sitting in the driver’s seat,” Dupont reported on Friday’s evening newscast. “The Dodge Avenger spun out of control and slammed into us. Luckily, no one was hurt. The driver did not want to be on camera, but told me slick roads were the problem.” continued…

Jennifer Myers

Myers begins on July 24 as the meteorologist on the Saturday and Sunday morning newscasts. She comes from KVIA in El Paso, where she has been a meteorologist, reporter, fill-in anchor and web producer since 2010.

“I’m very excited about joining the FOX4 team,” Myers said in a statement. “Severe weather has always been my passion, so being in a place where I can do what I love is really something I’m looking forward to.”

“I love the love at gay bars,” the El Paso NBC-affiliate tweeted. “I have 5 new bffs in 15 minutes.”

KTSM anchor Stephania Jimenez produced the NBC-affiliate’s 10 p.m. newscast on Wednesday and she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have some fun.

As the credits rolled on the newscast, Jimenez and her cohorts at the anchor desk all turned to the side and struck a pose (video above). The resulting image made for a perfect Facebook cover photo.
