Abati is moving to California for personal reasons, according to a memo sent to WLWT staffers obtained by the Cincinnatti Enquirer. News director Stacy Owen said in the memo station management is “working with Valerie to explore every opportunity to keep her within the Hearst Television family.”

“While no final departure date has been set, she plans to be with WLWT through the summer,” Owen wrote. “We will share more once her plans become more firm. Duncan has previously worked for several local radio stations in the area. She debuted today on the station’s 4:30 a.m. newscast, and will be full time beginning Monday, WXIA general manager John Deushane said.

Former NBA star and current NBA commentator Charles Barkley has made a habit of dissing San Antonio as he covers the Spurs for TNT, going so far as to regularly call the city’s women fat.

Barkley was in the Alamo City this week as the Spurs competed in the Western Conference Finals, and he was confronted by an excited group of local reporters when he made a public appearance with the city’s mayor.

All of the local news stations in Miami aired new video today of the gruesome cannibal attack that occurred over the weekend near the Miami Herald building.

The newly released video, taken by a Herald security camera, shows a high-angle long shot of the location where Rudy Eugene, 31, appears to have randomly encountered a 65-year-old homeless man, identified as Ronald Poppo, and proceeded to chew off a significant portion of his face before a police officer arrived.

The new video was the top story on the noon newscasts of WPLG, WSVN, and WFOR, and WTVJ, which has a half-hour 11 a.m. newscast, played a portion of it during its coverage of the incident today. continued…

Turk has worked as an associate producer at WWL since August 2011, according to her bio. She will be a traffic reporter for the morning newscast, replacing Christina Leavenworth, who left the station earlier this month.
