When WSVN reporter Kevin Ozebek went to cover the Miami Heat championship parade, he definitely didn’t expect to become part of a viral video from the most awkward man in the world.

YouTube auteur Kyle has developed a large following for his excruciatingly awkward reporting, and Ozebek found himself competing for an interview with Kyle’s shotgun mic at the parade.  It didn’t go too well (run-in begins around 1:04 mark).

KCBS excitedly reported the return of “The Dude,” sourcing the story to the Examiner, only to eventually find out that the report was based on a hoax (and not a very complex one at that).

KCBS based its article on an Examiner post written by a guy whose title is Phoenix Cannabis Culture Examiner, and who runs a blog called WeedGeist.  His story, in turn, appears to have been taken from a post on the website Super Official News with the byline “The Ass Press.” continued…

Los Angeles NBC O&O KNBC kept the news of Ann Curry‘s departure from the “Today” show a secret during its morning newscast Thursday.

Unlike its NBC sister stations on the West Coast, KNTV and KNSD, who both reported on Curry’s departure, KNBC decided not to mention the news before the start of “Today.”

Curry’s teary announcement came around 8:50 a.m. ET so NBC stations on the West Coast had to decide whether or not they were going to break the news on their shows. continued…

Stacy Owen, the news director at the Cincinnati NBC-affiliate, announced the news in an email to staffers that was obtained by the Cincinnati Enquirer.

“As part of our efforts to defend and extend our multi-platform momentum, Mike Dardis will join Sheree on News 5 at 11,” Owen wrote. “In addition to adding new feel to the show, this will enable both Mike and Sheree to work on special reports. The lineup of the 5, 530 and 6 stays the same. Here’s to our own strong summer season!”

Dardis has been anchoring the 5 p.m. newscast and reporting for the 11 p.m. since he joined WLWT from KOMO in April. Paolello was previously the solo anchor of the 11 p.m. newscast.
