A cause of death has not yet been determined for reporter Ken Ward, according to the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s office.
WSOC general manager Joe Pomilla says the station has no information on the cause of Ward’s death. “All I know is that the ME stated the cause of death was unknown at this time,” he tells TVSpy in an email.
Bill Fish, an investigator at the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s office, confirms Ward’s cause and manner of death are “pending.”
“Like everyone who knew or worked with Ken, we are stunned and very upset,” Culver tells TVSpy. “I know how much he and his family were looking forward to starting their new adventure in Tampa.”
WSOC has been reporting on Ward’s death throughout the day.
“On a personal note, my memories of Ken go way back,” anchor Robyn McGlohn said on the noon newscast today. “In college, I remember seeing him on a TV station there in Birmingham. If you had ever met Ken, he truly was one of the nicest people that you will have ever met.”
