Former KOIN News Director Arrested by Federal Agents

Jeff Alan, former news director of KOIN (6), was arrested by federal agents at his Northwest Portland home early Thursday after being indicted on charges of fraud and making false statements.

The raid came after a yearlong federal investigation prompted by a series of stories about Alan published in The Oregonian in April 2009.

The charges against Alan include making five false statements to three banks, along with false statements to multiple government agencies related to what investigators say was his use of a false Social Security number since at least 1992. More…
