Gus Gordon Leaving Springfield’s WICS After 22 Years

Chief meteorologist Gus Gordon is leaving WICS after 22 years at the ABC-affiliate in Springfield, IL.

Gordon has accepted a position as the artistic director of Springfield’s Hoogland Center for the Arts. The meteorologist has worked there part-time for the past four years and has produced more than 60 events for the organization, according to the State Journal-Register.

“While it will be sad to step down from a job that I have held and enjoyed for so long, I don’t think it will come as a surprise to my friends or to people who know me well that the opportunity to work full time at the HCFTA is the one thing that could lure me away,” Gordon said in a statement.

He will start his new job on June 4.
