In San Antonio, KENS Prepares for 4:30 a.m Start

San Antonio’s KENS is set to expand its morning newscast, giving anchors Vicki Buffolino and Bob McGann (left) an extra half-hour at 4:30 a.m.  Meteorologist Paul Mireles will be joining Buffolino and McGann for the weekday early bird shift.

The Belo-owned CBS-affiliate will now be offering the most local news of any station in its market, according to general manager Bob McGann.

“With this expansion, KENS Television broadcasts more local news than any other San Antonio station,” McGann boasted in announcing the move. “KENS Television is proud to offer this additional local broadcast serving our viewers.”

KENS couldn’t have picked steadier hands to lead its foray into early morning news.  Buffolino has been with the station since 1995 and Lozano has notched more than 30 years there.

The new 4:30 start will debut on January 10.
