Judge Orders Sue Manteris to Resolve Lawsuit Against KSNV Through Arbitration

A judge has ordered former KSNV anchor Sue Manteris to handle her discrimination lawsuit against the station through private arbitration, according to Vegas Inc.

Attorneys for Manteris, who is suing the Las Vegas NBC-affiliate for racial, age and gender discrimination, said they wanted the case to be heard by a jury. KSNV maintains that Manteris’ contract, which was not renewed last year, stipulated employment disputes must be settled through arbitration, which is private to the publc.

U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro sided with the station in an order handed down last week.

“‘The court finds that the arbitration clause can clearly be interpreted to cover all of plaintiff’s claims,” Navarro wrote. “Therefore, arbitration will be compelled.”

>Update: Manteris’ attorney, Gus Flangas, provided a statement to TVSpy:

It’s early in the case and regardless of whether we proceed through Arbitration or ultimately through a jury trial, we simply will not back down from our commitment to have the legal system fully explore the merits of Ms. Manteris’s case. Ms. Manteris is as committed as ever to hold Channel 3 accountable for its discriminatory acts.
