Newport Television has signed an agreement to sell NBC-affiliate KTVF to Chena Broadcasting, a company based in the station’s market of Fairbanks, AK.

Chena Broadcasting is led by Michael Young, a lifelong resident of Fairbanks who has a history with KTVF management.  When Hank Hove, the former president of KTVF was elected as borough mayor, Young was elected to the borough assembly.

According to the press release, Young “expects to continue with KTVF’s great programming and spectacular local news team.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.  It is expected to close in 90 days, pending FCC approval.
