Olbermann Warns Against ‘False God of Objectivity’

Keith Olbermann Keith Olbermann had been hyping his response to Ted Koppel on Twitter all day Monday, and when the “Special Comment” rolled around, it did not disappoint.

He began by holding up two paragons of the objective style of journalism that Koppel was eulogizing in his Washington Post op-ed: Walter Cronkite and Edward R. Murrow.

Cronkite’s recent death prompted a lot of “wailing” about the end of an unbiased era of journalism, Olbermann argued, but “most of the highlights of the man’s career had been those moments when he correctly and fearlessly threw off those shackles and said what was true and not merely what was factual.” More…
