Orlando Stations Stoke Online Criticism of Casey Anthony Verdict

Even though a not guilty verdict ended the high-profile trial of Casey Anthony on Tuesday afternoon, there was still much deliberation to be done in the court of public opinion, or, more specifically, the court of online commenter opinion.

Capitalizing on the tremendous amount of interest in (and opinions on) the trial, Orlando stations promoted forums on their websites where viewers could go to share their opinions on the verdict.

A scan of the forums, prominently positioned on the websites of WESH, WKMG, and WFTV, shows that a significant amount of commenters believe that the jury’s verdict should have been guilty.

“Dear Caylee,” writes one commenter on WESH’s forum, “I’m so very sorry that we, the people, failed you.”

“Once again the citizens of the State of Florida look like idiots to the rest of the world!” exclaims a commenter on WKMG’s forum. “How the jury could have found her not guilty of something is beyond me.”
