Reporting by WNBC’s Melissa Russo Results in New York City Hearings
Two reports filed recently by WNBC reporter Melissa Russo have spurred city council hearings in New York, the New York Daily News reports.
The first report, filed on October 27, chronicles the death of a four-month-old infant who wasn’t monitored. The second, filed on November 4, examines a city policy that requires people at homeless shelters to prove they need to be there. (Watch the first report above and the second after the jump.) Russo will report on both hearings, scheduled for today and tomorrow.
“To be able to affect policy and move the needle is very gratifying,” Russo said. “That’s what we do as reporters: We try to expose something that’s not working.”
