In Miami, High Speed U-Haul Chase Takes Over Noon Newscasts

A man driving a U-Haul truck led police on a high-speed chase through the streets of Miami Friday afternoon.

Two of the Miami stations, ABC affiliate WPLG and Fox affiliate WSVN, were in the middle of the noon newscasts when the news broke. WSVN was the first to start following the chase at 12:21 p.m., with photographer Ralph Rayburn in its chopper and Alexis Rivera and Christine Cruz at the anchor desk. Richard Lemus Leaving Miami’s WSVN After 14 Years

After 14 years at Miami Fox-affiliate WSVN, Richard Lemus is leaving the station to “pursue other interests,” according to the Miami Herald.

Lemus co-anchors the morning newscasts with Diana Diaz. He joined the station in 1998 as a general assignment reporter.

The Herald reports Lemus will be replaced by Alexis Rivera, who joined the station in April as a general assignment reporter. Rivera’s first day as co-anchor will be April 30.

Andre Hepkins joins KMOV in St. Louis as a weekday anchor-reporter, anchoring the weekday 6 p.m. newscasts and reporting for the weeknight 10 p.m. news. Previously, Hepkins was a reporter and fill-in anchor at Miami’s WSVN.

Rob Munoz joins KSNV in Las Vegas as a reporter from KXXV in Waco.

Alexis Rivera joins WSVN in Miami as a reporter from WPBF in West Palm
Beach.

Diana Perez joins Boston’s WBZ as a reporter/fill-in anchor from WVIT in Hartford.

Ann Sterling joins KCBS and KCAL in Los Angeles as a freelance reporter from weekday morning anchor at KOKI-TV in Tulsa. Read more
