Charlie Langton Promoted to Weekend Morning Anchor at WJBK

WJBK, the FOX owned station in Detroit, has named Charlie Langton weekend morning anchor. Langton will join Amy Andrews and Taryn Asher on the anchor desk.

Langton will continue to co-host the public affairs show, “Let It Rip,” and provide legal analysis on various weekday newscasts. Langton replaces Jay Towers, who now anchors weekdays from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m.

“Charlie brings a unique energy to his legal analysis, anchoring and street reporting. He has deep connections within this community and we are thrilled to bring him aboard as a full time member of the FOX 2 news team,” said vice president and news director Kevin Roseborough.

Langton joined WJBK in 2007 as a legal analyst and is a practicing lawyer. Prior to WJBK, he worked at WYUR-AM as a political-legal talk show host.

WJBK Adds Amy Andrews to 11:00 a.m. Newscast

andrews WJBKAmy Andrews has been promoted to anchor of the WJBK 11:00 a.m. newscast. She will also anchor The Nine from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursdays and Fridays.

“Amy has proven to be a respected reporter, active member of the Detroit community and a team player,” WJBK VP and news director Kevin Roseborough said in a statement.

Andrews has been the 4:30 a.m. anchor and a contributor to The Nine on the Detroit FOX owned station. Before coming to WJBK, she anchored Better Mid-Michigan on WNEM in Saginaw, Mich. she has also worked at KSBY in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Local Newsrooms Celebrate April Fools’ Day

The April Fools’ Day pranks are out in full force in newsrooms around the country today.

At KVUE in Austin, the morning news team pranked staffers by putting an empty donut box in the newsroom and shot video of staffers opening it looking for treats:
