KPTV-KPDX Launching 9 p.m. Newscast

kptv logo Portland Fox affiliate KPTV is launching a 9 p.m. newscast on sister station KPDX in September.

“More than ever before, we live in an on-demand world,” KPTV-KPDX general manager Andy Delaporte said in a statement. “The 9 O’clock News is launching as a direct response to the needs of busy Oregon and southwest Washington viewers. In addition to our 24-7 livestream on KPTV.com, FOX 12 and PDX TV are here when viewers need us with the most options to access morning, early evening, primetime and late-night newscasts in the Portland market.”

No word yet on who will anchor the broadcast. KPDX has an 8 p.m. newscast anchored by Wayne Garcia and Amy Troy, who also anchor the 10 p.m. newscast on KPTV.

Shannon Hori is leaving WFOR in Miami for WAVE in Louisville, where she will be primary anchor. In her new role, she will go by her married name, Shannon Cogan.

After seven months freelancing at KCBS in Los Angeles, Andrea Fujii becomes a full-time staff reporter for the CBS O&O.

Alexandra Limon returns to her native Los Angeles as she joins KTTV. She was previously a reporter for KIRO in Seattle.

Julie Luck joins WFMY in Greensboro as the primary anchor. Luck left rival WGHP last year.

Matt DeLucia jumps 36 markets as he joins WCAU in Philadelphia as a reporter. For the past four years, he has been a reporter at KVVU in Las Vegas. Read more

Marcie Kobriger joins CBS-affiliate WWMT in Kalamazoo. She will be anchoring WWMT’s weekday morning newscasts in addition to reporting. Kobriger comes to Kalamazoo from Green Bay.

Jamie Oberg joins CBS-affiliate KWTV in Oklahoma City as a general assignment reporter. Most recently, Oberg worked at the Fox-affiliate in Tulsa.

Anchor-reporter Ed Drantch has left WHSV in Harrisonburg, VA after nearly three years to join WIVB in Buffalo, NY, jumping 125 markets.

Jamie Warriner moves to chief meteorologist at KOLR-KOZL in Springfield, MO. Read more

Meteorologist Cheryl Scott has landed at WMAQ in Chicago where she will forecast for the weekend morning and evening shows. She leaves WBIR in Knoxville.

Angie Goff moves across the street in Washington D.C. where she will be the new weekend morning anchor and reporter for WRC, after working at WUSA.

Amber Sullins, AMS sealed CBM, has been promoted to chief meteorologist at KNXV in Phoenix. Sullins grew up in Phoenix and attended the University of Arizona.

Mike Marza becomes evening anchor of the 4, 4:30, 5 and 6pm newscasts for Sunbeam’s WSVN in Miami. Most recently, Marza spent more than a year in New York freelancing for ABC News as an overnight anchor and morning correspondent. Read more

Anchor Amy Troy Jumping from KGW to KOIN

In Portland, current KGW anchor Amy Troy is moving to crosstown rival KOIN.

“I start at KOIN in a few weeks,” Troy confirmed to TVSpy via email this week. She currently anchors KGW’s 5, 10, and 11 p.m. weekend newscasts and reports for the Belo-owned station during the week.

Troy is set to anchor KOIN’s 4 p.m. weekday newscast but will work as a writer at the station until her 6-month KGW non-compete expires.

“It’s a great professional opportunity and I’m honored to join KOIN’s news team,” Troy says. “Portland is home–so my family and I are thrilled.”
