Andy Adler Joins WPIX Morning Newscast

andy adlerAndy Adler is joining WPIX, Tribune’s CW affiliate in New York City, as an entertainment reporter and sports anchor for the morning newscast. She will begin in her new role on April 7.

Adler had been working with WPIX on special projects, including the station’s coverage of Super Bowl XLVIII. Before that, she was a host at Time Warner Cable SportsNet in Los Angeles. She has previously worked at WNYW in New York City and at KNBC in Los Angeles.

“After working with Andy during Super Bowl week, we knew she would make a great addition to our team, her talents and energy are the perfect complement to PIX11′s Morning News,” WPIX news director Mark Effron said in a statement.

Michelle Valles Joins KNBC as Weekend Anchor

Michelle Valles has been hired as weekend morning co-anchor at KNBC, the NBC O&O in Los Angeles.

Valles most recently lived in Austin, where she anchored on KXAN from 2003-08 and on KEYE from 2008-10. For the past two years, she has been acting, appearing in musicals and writing for a local magazine, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

“Her experience as a broadcast journalist, along with her energy, wit and creativity, will greatly contribute to our newscast,” KNBC president Steve Carlston said in a statement announcing Valles’ hire. Read more

Video: Ron Artest Tells KNBC Why He Changed His Name to ‘World Peace’

After months of wrangling, Lakers star Ron Artest officially changed his name to “Metta World Peace” today.

In a recent interview with KNBC’s Andy Adler, Artest explained how he arrived at the name and listed the other monikers that he was considering, including “Queensbridge” and “One Love” (video above).

Michelle Kosinski becomes a London-based correspondent for NBC News, from a Miami-based correspondent for NBC News.

Shibani Joshi enters into a new agreement with the FOX Business Network and FOX News Channel as a business correspondent.

Teresa Strasser joins KABC Radio morning drive as co-host.  Best known as the host of TLC’s “While You Were Out”, Teresa was the co-host of Adam Carolla’s morning radio show and TV Guide Network’s “TV Watercooler”.
