Araksya Karapetyan Named KTTV Morning Anchor

Araksya Karapetyan has been named early morning anchor at Los Angeles Fox O&O KTTV, our sister site FishbowlLA scoops. Karapetyan has been filling in as anchor of the 4:30 to 7 a.m. newscast since October.

“Araksya’s smart and in-depth reporting is matched by her exceptional commitment to the community,” news director Kingsley Smith said in a statement. “She has an extraordinary work ethic and has quickly made a name for herself in this area as a reporter who tells compelling stories about everyday people.”

Karapetyan joined KTTV in 2012 as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor. In her new role, she will also anchor the 10 a.m. newscast.

Los Angeles Stations Go Live for Endeavour Arrival

As the space shuttle Endeavour made its final flight around Los Angeles Friday afternoon, every major station in the region was carrying live coverage of its arrival.

KNBC anchors Michael Brownlee and Kathy Vara began anchoring coverage just before 9:30amPT. They were joined by Colleen Williams at Griffith Observatory, John Cadiz Klemack in Palmdale, Sean Murphy at the Santa Monica Pier, Ted Chen at Edwards Air Force Base, Toni Guinyard and Chuck Henry at LAX, Patrick Healy at the Nasa Propulsion Center and Antonio Castelan in El Segundo.

KTTV had several anchors participating: Phil Shuman, Carlos Amezcua, Araksya Karapetyan, Lisa Breckenridge and Jeff Michael. Meteorologist Maria Quiban and Pablo Pereira handled the weather reports, and reporters were live across Los Angeles, including Bob DeCastro and Gigi Graciette at LAX, Mar Yvette at a restaurant near LAX and Gina Silva at Griffith Observatory. MLB Network host Lisa Kerney joins WCBS in New York City as a sportscaster and feature reporter.

Two Reporters Hired at KTTV in Los Angeles

KTTV, the Fox O&O in Los Angeles, has hired two new reporters: Araksya Karapetyan (pictured) and James Koh.

Karapetyan joins the station on March 13 as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for the 5 and 10 p.m. newscasts on KTTV and the 11 p.m. newscast on KCOP, the MyNetworkTV-affiliate. For the past three years, Karapetyan has been a reporter and anchor at KOIN, the CBS-affiliate in Portland.

Koh joins KTTV on March 14. He will also be a general assignment reporter, with a focus on sports and breaking news, for the 5 and 10 p.m. newscasts on KTTV and the 11 p.m. newscast on KCOP. John joins the station from KSWB, the Fox-affiliate in San Diego, where he was a multimedia journalist.
