During its noon news, Milwaukee NBC affiliate WTMJ aired an unfortunate misspelling while promoting its 3 p.m. “Sound Off!” segment.
The focus of Monday’s segment was NBC broadcaster Bob Costas‘ editorial turn during halftime of the previous night’s airing of “Sunday Night Football.” WTMJ wanted to hear from viewers whether they thought the nation needed more “gun” control. Instead, the graphic asked if we needed more “fun” control.

Register today.WTLV sports director Dan Hicken, who has been covering sports for the Jacksonville NBC-affiliate since the 80s, delivered an angry on-air rant against Bob Costas and NBC during a recent newscast after the network’s Olympic coverage ran long and bumped the start of East Coast affiliates’ late newscasts well past midnight (video above).
“Bob, when it’s 12 o’clock, you say Goodnight,” Hicken yelled at the beginning of his sports update, which began at 12:31 a.m. “You don’t care because you’re sleeping right now.”
New charges were brought against Jerry Sandusky today, and local stations in Philadelphia rushed to cover the breaking news about the former Penn State defensive coordinator.
ABC O&O WPVI, which caught exclusive video of Sandusky arriving at the courthouse (watch above) says Kenneth Moton was the “only reporter” inside Sandusky’s arraignment. Moton reported that Sandusky was “in handcuffs and wearing Penn State pants” in the courtroom. Read more
