Former Anchor Bob McBride Passes Away

Bob McBride, an anchor known to viewers in Chicago, Detroit, D.C., and Cleveland, passed away this week at the age of 83.

McBride got his start with Detroit’s WJBK before making a high-profile move to Chicago’s WBBM in 1971, where he preceded the legendary anchor duo of Walter Jacobson and Bill Kurtis.

McBride left WBBM in 1973 to return to WJBK, eventually becoming the station’s general manager.

In the 80s, he made stops at the anchor desks of WRC in Washington, D.C. and Cleveland’s WKYC.

He walked away from TV in 1989 and spent his retirement in Bethesda, MD.
