Whit Johnson is promoted to anchor the weekday morning news for KNBC in Los Angeles.  Whit has been the noon anchor and reporter for the station for the past two years.

Chris Cristi joins KNBC/Angel City Air in Los Angeles as an evening helicopter reporter.  Most recently, Chris was a freelance helicopter reporter for KCB-KCAL in Los Angeles.

Brian Monahan Leaving Seattle’s KIRO for WSB in Atlanta

web_bio_monahanBrian Monahan, meteorologist at Seattle CBS affiliate KIRO, is leaving the station for Atlanta, where he’ll join Cox sister station WSB. “Finishing up my last morning on KIRO7, and my co-workers sent me off with a signed 12th man flag (of course!),” Monahan posted to Facebook. “I’ll miss these guys a lot as I head to Atlanta!”

Monahan joined KIRO from yet another Cox station, WFTV, the ABC affiliate in Orlando. Monahan followed Bob Jordan from Orlando to Seattle, making the move in 2012.

Alexis Smith Ready For KIRO Traffic Debut

Alexis Smith‘s first day on-air as KIRO morning traffic reporter was informally announced on twitter by meteorologist Brian Monahan.

Monahan tweeted a shot of Smith (pictured right) practicing for her Monday morning debut. “Well welcome @AlexisASmith to our team on Monday.. Rehearsing this morning! #goteam @KIRO7Seattle.”

KIRO news director Bob Jordan confirmed the move with TVSpy. Smith joined the Seattle CBS affiliate from Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA.

Gio Benitez moves to ABC News as a network correspondent. For the past three years, he has been a reporter at WFOR in Miami.

Latoya Silmon returns to her hometown of Dallas to report for KDFW. She was previously an anchor and reporter at KTUL in Tulsa.

Meteorologist Remeisha Shade was promoted to weekend evening meteorologist at KXAS in Dallas. Read more

WFTV’s Brian Monahan Heading to Seattle’s KIRO

Brian Monahan, meteorologist for Orlando’s ABC affiliate WFTV, will join the Seattle CBS affiliate KIRO as weekday morning meteorologist, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The Sentinel reports Monahan was lured away by former WFTV news director Bob Jordan who was named news director for KIRO in July.

“I consider Bob a great mentor and friend,” Monahan told the Sentinel. “It was truly a pleasure working for him for a couple of years here and, let’s be honest, when Bob comes calling and says, ‘I want you to come work in Seattle,’ it’s hard to say no! I’m excited to be a part of his new team in Seattle.”

Both KIRO and WFTV are owned by the Cox Media Group. Read more

WFTV’s Brian Monahan Prepares for Weekend ‘GMA’

WFTV meteorologist Brian Monahan is filling in on the weekend edition of ABC’s “Good Morning America” for the next two weeks, and he has been preparing by broadening his weather scope outside of Orlando.

“[I'm] trying to keep everything as normal as possible headed into the weekend,” he told TVSpy in an email. “Looks active weather-wise, too, with [Hurricane] Katia nearby the east coast. I’m paying a bit more attention to national weather this week.”

Monahan, who joined the Orlando ABC affiliate last year, said he is excited about contributing to “GMA.” Read more

WFTV’s Brian Monahan Set to Fill In On ‘GMA’

Brian Monahan — a meteorologist for WFTV, the ABC affiliate in Orlando — is set to fill-in on the weekend edition of ABC’s “Good Morning America” for the next two weeks.

Although he has been a Florida meteorologist for the last five years, the New Jersey native became interested in weather during snowstorms as a child. He joined WFTV last year after four years at WINK, the CBS affiliate in Fort Myers.

Monahan will appear on “GMA” on September 10, 11, 17 and 18, according to The Orlando Sentinel.
