Britt McHenry Heading to ESPN

britt-mchenry-1714WJLA and NewsChannel 8 sports reporter Britt McHenry is headed to ESPN.

“In a relatively short time, Britt has established a reputation for strong, aggressive reporting in the D.C. area, and an ability to land big interviews,” Vince Doria, Sr. ESPN VP and director of news said in a statement. “Her presence there will be a great benefit to ESPN’s newsgathering, and, as with all of our bureau reporters, she will be assigned to high-profile stories around the country.”

McHenry has worked at the Washington, D.C. ABC affiliate since 2010. She started her career at NewsChannel 8 in 2008 as weekend morning anchor.

She will stay in Washington, D.C. working on SportsCenter, Outside the Lines, NFL Live and Baseball Tonight. She starts March 17.

Jon Werther has been named chief of strategy at Meredith Corporation, the owner of 12 local stations. He was previously president of Simulmedia, an audience-targeted television ad network.

John Malos has joined KGMC as host of  “Connect With Me.” Until 2005, he was an anchor at KMPH.

Sports reporter Britt McHenry has rejoined WJLA from Fox Sports San Diego.
