WYFF Adds Ashley Swann, Announces New Weekend Anchor Team

swann wyffHearst-owned Greenville, S.C. station WYFF has announced a new weekend anchor team with the addition of Ashley Swann as weekend anchor.

The station promises on its website, Swann will “bring the weekend evening news to viewers” to the NBC affiliate as anchor of the 4:00, 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. Saturday newscasts. Mike McCormick will co-anchor with Swann on Sunday. The two will be joined by sports anchor Marc Dopher and meteorologist Chris Justus.

“We are thrilled Ashley is joining our news team,” said Bruce Barkley, WYFF 4 News Director. “This move is a homecoming for her.  She grew up in the Upstate and is familiar with our area. I know Ashley is a very talented reporter and anchor who shares our commitment to reporting local news that matters to viewers. Ashley and Mike will make a great team on Sunday evening newscasts.”

Mike McCormick has been with WYFF News 4 in the Spartanburg Bureau for more than seven years.  In addition to his Sunday evening anchor duties, Mike will continue reporting from Spartanburg during the week.

Meteorologist Pamela Wright Joins WYFF

Pamela Wright is joining WYFF, Hearst Television’s NBC affiliate in Greenville, S.C., as the weekend morning meteorologist.

“Pamela rounds out a weather team that is second to none in our area,” news director Bruce Barkley said in a statement. “As a meteorologist, she brings experience covering hurricanes and severe weather. Pamela is also someone who knows the social media community in our region and she is anxious to interact with that audience, as well.”

Wright began her career at WCSC in Charleston, S.C. and has worked at WLUK in Green Bay, WFOR and WSVN in Miami and KCBS in Los Angeles. She was most recently vice president of media relations at Sensible City in Asheville, N.C.

Traffic Reporter Allyson Powell Joins WYFF

Traffic reporter Allyson Powell is joining WYFF, Hearst Television’s NBC affiliate in Greenville, S.C.

“Allyson brings a host of news reporting and anchoring experience to the traffic reporting position,” news director Bruce Barkley said in a statement. “We’re happy to have someone joining the WYFF 4 News team who knows our area and who is so familiar with our community.”

Powell has previously worked as a traffic reporter at KOSA in Midland, Texas and as a sports reporter at Comcast Sports in San Francisco. She will appear on both the morning and evening newscasts at WYFF.

Bruce Barkley Named News Director at WYFF, Ben Hart to Replace Him at WAPT

WAPT news director Bruce Barkley (pictured) is moving from Jackson, Miss. to Greenville, S.C., where he will take over as news director of WYFF.

It is a move within Hearst for Barkley, who has served as WAPT’s news director since 2000. He will step into the role vacated by Justin Antoniotti, who is leaving WYFF to serve as news director for another Hearst station, WATE in Pittsburgh.

“We feel very fortunate to welcome someone of Bruce’s experience and knowledge,” WYFF general manager John Soapes said in a statement. “He has a proven track record of creating outstanding local television news programming, all while providing superior leadership and building great teams.”

Ben Hart, who has been assistant news director of WAPT since 2010, will step into the news director role at the Jackson ABC affiliate. Hart is a graduate of Mississippi State University. Read more

Anchor Keegan Foxx Joins WAPT From WTVA

Keegan Foxx has joined WAPT, the ABC affiliate in Jackson, Miss., as morning co-anchor.

Foxx moves to Jackson from Tupelo, where she was the morning co-anchor at WTVA. She has previously worked as a reporter at two other stations in Mississippi: WDAM in Hattiesburg and WCBI in Columbus.

“Keegan is a solid, experienced news anchor and journalist with deep Mississippi roots and sound knowledge of the issues that affect our state. We are thrilled to have her co-anchoring 16 WAPT Morning News,” WAPT news director Bruce Barkley said in a statement.

Foxx’s first day alongside Megan West at the anchor desk was Wednesday.
