Cori Coffin Joins KVUE as Morning Anchor

teamdaybreakCori Coffin has joined Austin ABC affiliate KVUE as a morning anchor. Coffin has been anchoring the station’s 5:00 a.m., 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. newscasts with Bryan Mays, reports Austin media maven Gary Dinges:

Coffin comes to Austin after spending the past three years at KREX in Colorado Springs, Colo., where she also handled morning and midday anchor duties.
At KVUE, Coffin is currently filling in for anchor Yvonne Nava, who is on maternity leave after giving birth to her second son, Bodhi, late last month.
When Nava returns after the holidays, executive news director Frank Volpicella said Coffin will take over as anchor of KVUE’s 4:30 a.m. newscast, a spot vacated by Jessica Vess, who left recently to take a public relations job at Austin Community College.

Yvonne Nava Named Morning Anchor at KVUE

Yvonne Nava is joining Austin ABC-affiliate KVUE, Austin360 reports.

Nava, a University of Texas graduate, joins the station from WVIT, the NBC O&O in Hartford, where she was morning anchor. In announcing her departure, she said she was moving to Texas to be closer to her family.

Nava will be the KVUE morning anchor, replacing Melissa Gale, who left the station earlier this summer. Nava begins September 10 alongside Bryan Mays and meteorologist Albert Ramon.

KVUE Names Bryan Mays Morning Co-Anchor

Austin’s KVUE has announced a replacement for Olga Campos, who left the station in July after 16 years: weekend sports anchor Bryan Mays.

“When Bryan filled in on the ‘Daybreak’ anchor desk, he created a spark that was felt not only on the air, but behind the scenes as well, working closely with the producers to improve the quality of the editorial aspect of the newscast,” KVUE news director Frank Volpicella said in a statement.

Mays, who has been at KVUE since 2004, will join Melissa Gale as co-anchor of the morning and mid-day newscasts on the ABC-affiliate. Sports reporter Matt Mitchell will take over Mays’ spot as weekend sports anchor; the station is currently searching for a replacement for Mitchell.
