WFAA Makes Fill-In Co-Anchor Permanent, Moves Carla Wade to Weekend Mornings

wade_conomosAlexa Conomos (pictured right) is now the full time co-anchor for News 8 Daybreak on WFAA.

Conomos has been filling in on the Dallas ABC affiliate’s morning show for Cynthia Izaguirre who moved to evenings earlier this year.

“Alexa is a parent and relates to so many of our viewers trying to get children up, and out the door every morning,” executive news director Carolyn Mungo said in a statement. “Her concerns are their concerns, and she brings a special warmth to the broadcast.”

Conomos has worked at WFAA for 12 years. She started as a traffic reporter after working at Texas Cable News and KMIR in Palm Springs, CA.

The station also announced that Carla Wade will move from anchoring Sunday nights to weekend mornings while contuing to report.

Carla Wade Joins WFAA From KOCO

Carla Wade is joining WFAA in Dallas as a reporter and Sunday night anchor, according to Dallas media blogger Ed Bark.

Wade comes from Oklahoma City, where she spent three years at KOCO. She has also worked at WTVQ in Lexington, Ky. and KSWO in Lawton, Texas.

Beginning next month, Wade will anchor on Sunday nights alongside Jason Wheeler. She will also report four days a week.

Andrea Fujii has joined KCBS in Los Angeles as a freelance reporter. Previously, Fujii was a reporter and fill-in anchor at WJZ in Baltimore.

After three years as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KOCO in Oklahoma City, Carla Wade joins WFAA in Dallas as a weekend evening anchor and reporter.

Shelley Walcott joins WMUR in Manchester from WTMJ in Milwaukee. At WMUR, Walcott will be the primary anchor.

Jeff Vaughn returns to Detroit, joining WXYZ as an auto and business reporter as well as anchor of the 5 p.m. newscast. Vaughn comes from San Antonio, where he was the primary anchor at KENS.

Miami native Sheldon Fox returns to his hometown, joining WSVN as a general assignment reporter. Fox was previously the weekend evening anchor and crime reporter for WGNO in New Orleans. Read more
