Melinda Davenport Joins WISN in Milwaukee

melinda davenport wisnMelinda Davenport is joining WISN, the ABC affiliate in Milwaukee, as the breaking news anchor for the morning newscast.

“Melinda understands our mission to bring viewers relevant information that impacts their daily lives,” news director Chris Gegg said in a statement. “The ability to clearly deliver breaking news information in our constantly updating world takes experience and talent, and Melinda brings both. She will be a great addition to our morning team.”

It is a move within Hearst for Davenport, who has worked at WMUR in Manchester, N.H., since 2011. She most recently anchored the station’s weekday noon newscast and weekend evening newscasts.

Chris Gloninger Joining WISN From WRGB

Meteorologist Chris Gloninger is joining WISN, the ABC affiliate in Milwaukee, OnMilwaukee.com reports.

Gloninger will be the weekend evening meteorologist at WISN. He moves to Milwaukee from Albany, where he was a meteorologist at CBS affiliate WRGB.

“Chris is a highly-skilled meteorologist who will be a great addition to the Weather Watch 12 Team,” WISN news director Chris Gegg told OnMilwaukee.com. “He has extensive experience reporting live in extreme weather conditions, including covering Hurricane Sandy and Hurricane Irene.”

Gloninger replaces Luke Sampe, who is leaving WISN to be the chief meteorologist at WFRV in Green Bay.

News Director Chris Gegg Jumps from Madison to Milwaukee’s WISN

Chris Gegg has been named news director for Hearst Television’s Milwaukee ABC affiliate, WISN.  Gegg succeeds Lori Waldon who left for Hearst’s KCRA-KQCA in Sacramento.

“Chris is a proven news leader with the right skills and experience to oversee our newsroom and take it to the next level,” said Jan Wade, president and general manager of WISN in a posting to the station’s website. “I am also delighted that he has Midwest roots, knows our state well, and values the most important people we serve — our viewers.”

Gegg comes from Madison’s WMTV where he is credited with successfully rebuilding and rebranding weather coverage in the Madison news market.  Previously he was executive producer at ABC affiliates WXYZ in Detroit and WKRN in Nashville, TN.
