KDKA Anchor Susan Koeppen Suffers Heart Attack

Susan Koeppen, an evening anchor on Pittsburgh’s KDKA, suffered a heart attack this weekend while jogging, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Koppen, who was with a group of friends in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh when she had the heart attack, was administered CPR by a member of her group. A passerby used an external defibrillator from a nearby store until rescue personnel arrived, city police told the Tribune-Review.

Koppen joined the CBS owned-and-operated station earlier this fall. KDKA general manager Christopher Pike confirmed the 6 and 10 p.m. anchor was not on the air on Monday night, but refused further comment.

Anchor Patrice King Brown to Retire from Pittsburgh’s KDKA After 32 Years

Anchor Patrice King Brown is set to retire from Pittsburgh’s KDKA after 32 years with the CBS O&O.

“Patrice has spent most of her adult life at KDKA-TV and has made a significant contribution for more than half of the station’s existence. Her warmth and grace have endeared her to viewers and co-workers alike,” said Christopher Pike, KDKA’s vice president and general manager.

King Brown, 55, joined KDKA in 1978 as co-host of the station’s afternoon lifestyle show “Pittsburgh 2Day.”  She would later go on to helm the station’s anchor desk, covering the 4, 6, and 11 p.m. newscasts.

Her final day is scheduled for January 28.
