High Schooler to Report for FOX Connecticut

WTIC (FOXCT) has added Ben Goldman, a Connecticut high schooler, to their news team.  But stifle those cries of reporters getting younger every year, Goldman will only report on charity events around Connecticut.

Coleen Marren, news director for the Hartford-New Haven Fox affiliate told the Hartford Courant, “We are thrilled to have Ben join the team.”

Popular Meteorologist Geoff Fox Says WTIC Created Position for Him ‘Out of Thin Air’

Meteorologist Geoff Fox, who announced this morning via Twitter that he was joining WTIC, is now offering some details on his new job.

Fox’s first day with the Fox-affiliate is set for Monday in a position that, as he puts it, WTIC created “out of thin air.”

The veteran meteorologist will deliver technology and science reports for the station’s 4 p.m. newscast, working alongside Rachel Frank, who will continue to do the forecast at 4 and 10. He will then handle weather coverage for the 11 p.m. newscast.

It makes sense that WTIC would create a special position for Fox considering the outpouring of viewer support he received when it was leaked that ABC-affiliate WTNH was dumping him after 26 years. In announcing Fox’s hiring, WTIC emphasized the “social media firestorm” that occurred when WTNH showed him the door. Read more

Hartford Fox-Affiliate Adding Two Reporters

WTIC (FOX CT) is adding two reporters to its news team.  The Hartford-New Haven Fox-affiliate announced this week that it has hired Jeevan Vittal and Ayana Noni Harry.

“Jeevan and Ayana are two very talented reporters,” said Coleen Marren, WTIC’s news director. “I am excited to bring their skills and experience to our station.”

Both Vittal and Harry have experience working in Connecticut.  Vittal began his broadcasting career at the University of Hartford, where he worked as a reporter for the school’s TV station, STN 2, and eventually became its news director.  Most recently Vittal was a reporter-anchor for WENY in Elmira, NY.

Harry is a New York City native who most recently worked for ABC News as a digital journalist.  During her time with ABC, Harry covered stories throughout Connecticut.

“I’m excited to join the station!” Harry tweeted on Monday.  Harry is set to begin on January 24 while Vittal will start on the 17th.
