WBBM Expands Sunday Morning Newscast

WBBM, the CBS O&O in Chicago, is adding an hour to its Sunday morning newscast beginning next month.

“September 22 marks one year since our return to weekend morning news and viewers have responded,” news director Jeff Kiernan said in a statement. “Adding an hour to our Sunday morning broadcast underscores our commitment to serving our community.”

The expanded newscast will begin one hour earlier, at 6 a.m., and will continue to be anchored by Marissa Bailey with reporter Courtney Gousman and meteorologist Ed Curran. The newscast, which airs immediately before ratings powerhouse “CBS Sunday Morning,” has given the station its best ratings on Sunday morning since the advent of Nielsen’s Local People Meters, according to WBBM.
