Des Moines Reporter Uses Kickstarter to Publish Book on Iowa Caucus

caucus_chaosWHO reporter Dave Price recently wrapped up a successful Kickstarter campaign to raise money for his self-published book about the 2012 Iowa Caucus titled Caucus Chaos.

“I wrote the book because there’s never been an Iowa Caucus like the one we just experienced,” Price told TVSpy. “The rise and fall of so many different candidates in less than one year’s time was remarkable and unprecedented. The name Caucus Chaos seemed to be the perfect fit.”

The political reporter for the Des Moines, IA, NBC affiliate was looking for $4,000 but raised more than $5,000.

Price said the book covers “everything that lead up to caucus night, the drama behind the infamous caucus night [Mitt] Romney declaration and the fears that followed that Iowa’s Caucuses may be damaged because of the way it all went down.” Read more

Greg Kelly Returns to ‘Good Day NY’: ‘A Trial Separation, But We’re Probably Better Together’

Seven months after leaving “Good Day New York” for a spot at the evening anchor desk, Greg Kelly made his return to the WNYW morning newscast Friday.

Kelly, who has been anchoring the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts since July, is back alongside Rosanna Scotto after Dave Price asked to be let out of his contract with the New York City Fox O&O.

“You know we love Dave Price. Dave wanted to do other things,” Scotto said at the top of this morning’s newscast. “Dave and I were friends before this, we’ll be friends after this, and we wish him well on his new venture.”

On their first morning back together, Kelly and Scotto acknowledged the well-wishes that flooded in from fans and colleagues alike. Read more

WNYW Shuffles Anchors: Greg Kelly Back to Mornings, Steve Lacy to Evenings

There are changes coming to the morning and evening newscasts at WNYW, the Fox O&O in New York City. Our sister site FishbowlNY scoops that Greg Kelly (left) will be back on “Good Day New York” beginning tomorrow.

Kelly moved to the evening newscasts, anchoring alongside Dari Alexander, in July. He was replaced on “Good Day” by Dave Price, who re-joined the station to anchor the morning show with Rosanna Scotto.

Price asked to be let out of his contract, station sources say. His last day at WNYW was Thursday.

“I had a great experience returning to FOX 5 but it is time to look for opportunities outside WNYW. I love Rosanna and the gang and wish them all the best,” Price told TVSpy in a statement.

“We appreciate all of Dave’s contributions to ‘Good Day New York’ during his time with FOX 5 and we wish him success in his future endeavors,” WNYW VP-GM Lew Leone said.

Kelly co-hosted “Good Day” with Scotto for four years before moving to the evenings.

“We are excited to welcome Greg back to ‘Good Day.’ He has proven he has the versatility to anchor a primetime newscast and an unscripted morning show – a rare and valuable quality,” Leone said. “This, combined with his fun, spontaneous, and inquisitive style make him the perfect fit for this role.”

As Kelly moves back to mornings, Steve Lacy (right) who currently anchors the 4:30 to 7 a.m. hours, will move to evenings. Lacy, who joined WNYW in 2011 from WCVB in Boston, will anchor the 10 p.m. newscast with Alexander and the 6 p.m. newscast solo.

A spokesperson for WNYW said Antwan Lewis will anchor the early-morning newscasts until Lacy’s permanent replacement is named.

>Update: Kelly’s last evening newscast will be the 6 p.m. tonight. Lacy will anchor the 10 p.m.

Dave Price’s Wife Goes Into Labor During WNYW Morning Show, Mandy Patinkin Calls It ‘the most exciting thing I’ve ever had happen!’

WNYW morning anchor Dave Price had to leave the newscast during an interview with actor Mandy Patinkin this week because his wife went into labor (video above).

Patinkin — who “Homeland” fans know as the stoic, unemotional Saul Berenson of the CIA — was beside himself with excitement over the news.

“Oh my God, how thrilling!” Patinkin said to Rosanna Scotto. “That is the most exciting thing I’ve ever had happen! Oh my God! … To hell with me, let’s cut away to the hospital!”

WNYW News Director Emails Dave Price During Morning Newscast: ‘Fix Your Hair’

Dave Price was sitting at the “Good Day New York” anchor desk this morning when he got an email from WNYW news director Dianne Doctor he decided to share with co-host Rosanna Scotto and their viewers:

Price: Hold on, I just got an email from the news director.

Scotto: What did she say?

Price: Fix your hair.

Rosanna: So how did you respond?

Price: I can’t tell you how I responded. I mean, fix my hair? Would you stop already with the fix my hair? Here’s the deal. This is the hair I was born with, this is the hair I’ve had on television for the past 15 years. And this woman is obsessed with my hair … Do I walk into her office and tell her to fix her hair? No. I’d be suspended. Read more

Beginning next Monday, Rosanna Scotto will have a new co-anchor on “Good Day New York”: Dave Price (left), a former WNYW weathercaster, is returning to the Fox O&O.

Price’s hire sets a cascade of changes to WNYW’s newscasts into motion. Greg Kelly (right), Scotto’s current co-anchor, will move to evenings, anchoring the 6 p.m. newscast solo and 10 p.m. newscast with Dari Alexander. Kelly replaces Ernie Anastos at 10 p.m. and Harry Martin at 6 p.m.

Anastos’ time at the anchor desk will be reduced, although the station will add more “Positively Ernie” specials to its lineup beginning later this year.
