Kerry Kavanaugh has been named an Investigative Reporter at WFXT in Boston. Kerry will be staying in the Cox Media Group as she moves from sister station WSB in Atlanta.

Brian Heap jumps nearly 50-markets to weekend anchor/reporter at KCRA in Sacramento, Calif. He was morning anchor at KWCH in Wichita, Kan.

Larry Collins moves to WBFF in Baltimore as a reporter. Collins was an anchor/reporter at WCBD in Charleston, S.C.

Dave Zawilinski Ditching Des Moines for WOWT in Omaha

WOI sports anchor Dave Zawilinski is joining NBC affiliate WOWT in Omaha, NE.

The Des Moines Register reports he’ll be a morning news anchor.

Zawilinski started at WOI as an intern while he was a sophomore at Drake University in 2002. Since then, his station bio said, he’s “filled every role on the sports team – Intern, Part-Time Photographer, Sports Reporter and Weekend Sports Anchor.”

John Walters Leaving WOI, Dave Zawilinski to Take Over as Sports Director

John Walters, the sports director at WOI in Des Moines, is leaving in June to take a job at the Iowa State University athletics department.

Walters has worked at WOI since 1996. He will be replaced as sports director by Dave Zawilinski, who is currently the station’s weekend sports anchor.

“John Walters will be missed,” news director Scott Frederick said in a statement. “To be sure, it will be difficult to replace someone of John’s caliber, but Dave Zawilinski is just the guy to do it.” Read more
