Atlanta’s WAGA Debuts New Set

WAGA, the Fox-owned station in Atlanta, today unveiled a new set designed by Devlin Design Group. The set features a social media pod, a video kiosk, as well as video presentation towers. According to DDG, the most unique part of the set is the “innovative pivoting storytelling wall”:

Here is how it works: A portion of the LED video wall positions itself at a ninety degree angle from the rest of the video wall to allow the reporter or talent to set up their story, much like the opening of a book cover. After the initial story setup, the intro section of the video wall pivots mechanically and then blends back into the main video wall and becomes part of the continuing story. The storyteller now has the option to share their story while walking along the larger storytelling wall.

DDG, KTVA Win News Set of the Year Award

Devlin Design Group and KTVA, the CBS affiliate in Anchorage, are the winners of Newscast Studio’s News Set of the Year Award.

“After less than 5 months on the air, the new KTVA News was awarded “Best Newscast” by the Alaska Press Club. I have no doubt that the amazing set produced by DDG contributed greatly to the award,” KTVA news director Bert Rudman said in a statement. “DDG and KTVA have proven that quality design is not limited by market size.”

KBZK Unveils New High Definition Set

KBZK in Bozeman, Mont. debuted a high definition set designed by Devlin Design Group last week.

“It looks great in person and on camera. We’re already getting positive comments from viewers,” KBAK news director John Sherer said in a statement. “What I like best is the great lighting and how versatile it is, giving us many venues for showcasing stories.” Read more

WTVC in Chattanooga Unveils New Set

Chattanooga ABC affiliate WTVC debuted a new high definition set last week (above). Devlin Design Group, the set’s designer, details the space’s new features:

The design of the set is very graphics driven with large back lit graphics along the perimeter of the entire set. LED color changing lights are incorporated to provide a variety of colors and moods for their different newscasts. To keep the set grounded there are elements of wood and stone mixed in with the acrylics and metals. The custom stone finish is reminiscent of the local Chattanooga Pier area. Read more

Missoula’s KPAX Debuts New Set

Missoula CBS affiliate KPAX unveiled a new set designed by Devlin Design Group this week.

“I’m thrilled to have so many different options that we can use during the newscast. Each show can have a different look for our viewers if we choose,” KPAX news director Mike Powers said. “And the colors really pop out too.”

WKEF in Dayton Debuts New HD Set

Dayton ABC affiliate WKEF unveiled a new high definition set over the weekend. Devlin Design Group, which designed and installed the set for the station, has details about the new features:

The set is composed of large scenic walls with graphics on acrylic that are lit from behind with color-changing LED’s.  A contemporary wave design interspersed throughout adds a touch of sophistication to the overall look. The set is fresh and modern with a nice mix of polished acrylics, refined cherry woods and a touch of brushed metallic thrown in. Read more

Springfield’s WICS Debuts High Definition Set

WICS, Sinclair’s ABC affiliate in Springfield, Ill., has debuted a new high definition set designed by Devlin Design Group.

“Our goal was to have a new set that would not only replace our current look with a more modern and visually exciting location for our newscasts, but also to provide us with more options for presenting local news in new and exciting ways,” WICS news director Katie Faye said in a statement.

WCHS Transitions to HD With New Studio

WCHS, the ABC affiliate in Charleston, W.Va, debuted a new high-definition set designed by Devlin Design Group on Saturday. New features include a rear projection screen and a large video wall, as well as a rolling kiosk that can be used in all areas of the set.

“The new set is an obvious point of difference when compared to our competition; it elevates our people and our product to the next level,” news director Matt Snyder said in a statement. WHP Transitions to HD with New Studio

WHP, the CBS-affiliate in Harrisburg, PA, has made the switch to high definition and unveiled a brand-new set.

The new space, designed by Devlin Design Group, features an expansive video wall consisting of six 50-inch monitors that can either display one image or a series of images.

“Viewer feedback has been wonderful,” WHP vice president and general manager Holly Steuart said of the station’s new HD look. Read more
