Meteorologist Amelia Segal Joins WRC

Meteorologist Amelia Segal is joining WRC in Washington, DC. She begins at the NBC O&O on March 11.

Segal, a native of Frederick County, Md., joins WRC from WIVB-WLNO in Buffalo.

“Amelia has a true passion for weather and the background to complement our team,” said chief meteorologist Doug Kammerer said in a statement. “Adding another meteorologist – especially one from our region – will help make our coverage even better.  We are excited for Amelia to join our team.”

Along with Segal’s hire, WRC announced “significant investments” in the station’s weather resources and technology, including a more expansive network of cameras installed throughout the city and a new weather app.

WRC aired an NBC news special report anchored by Savannah Guthrie in New York. Meteorologist Doug Kammerer took over after the national report and passed off coverage to Tom Sherwood and Liz Crenshaw shortly after 2:30 p.m. Read more
