Philadelphia CBS O&O KYW and New Orleans Fox affiliate WVUE are the 2013 recipients of RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards for overall excellence.

“We are very humbled and honored to be recognized for our body of work in 2012,” WVUE news director Mikel Schaefer told TVSpy. “This is a reflection of the hard work and dedication our entire staff has day in and day out, whether covering Hurricane Isaac, investigating corruption or our unique culture.”

In the breaking news category, WNBC in New York City won for coverage of Hurricane Sandy and WHEC in Rochester won for coverage of the four firefighters shot at a house fire in Webster. In the continuning coverage category, KXAS in Dallas won for “Driven to Distraction,” a nine-month series on Texas police officers who crashed while typing on mobile dashboard computers, and KXRM in Colorado Springs won for coverage of the Waldo Canyon fire.

Murrow Awards for best newscast go to KUSA in Denver and KSPR in Springfield, Mo. Awards for best feature reporting go to KARE in Minneapolis and KHQ in Spokane, and WFAA in Dallas and CTV in Vancouver Island were honored for best investigative reporting.
