Jerry Gallagher to Join ‘Today in Iowa’

gallagher kwwlKWWL has announced Jerry Gallagher will join the Waterloo, IA, NBC affiliate as anchor for Today in Iowa.

“We look forward to Jerry’s arrival,” Jim McKernan, VP and GM of KWWL said in a statement. “Not only is he a skilled journalist, he’s an eastern Iowa native and has family here. He knows what is important to viewers, and complements the skills of Teal Jennings.”

Gallagher will work alongside Teal Jennings and Eileen Loan.

This is Gallagher’s second stint at KWWL. He interned at the station while he was at the University of Northern Iowa.

He comes to KWWL from sister station WQOW in Eau Claire, WI, where he was assistant news director and anchor. He has also worked in Sioux City, IA. His first day is June 26.

KWWL Names Bloomberg TV Reporter as Morning Anchor

jennings kwwl_croppedKWWL, the Waterloo, IA, NBC affiliate, has announced Teal Jennings as co-anchor for Today in Iowa.

“Teal is a great addition to KWWL,” news director Dan Schillinger said in a statement. “She’s a skilled journalist, has the right personality for morning and noon news. Being from the area gives her extra insight in to what our viewers want to see in the morning.”

Jennings comes to KWWL from Bloomberg Television in Chicago where she was an anchor and reporter. She has also worked for KGAN in Cedar Rapids, IA.

She will join Jason Carter and Eileen Loan on the morning show starting April 30 and will also anchor the station’s Noon news.

Jason Carter Joins KWWL as Morning Co-Anchor

Jason Carter has joined KWWL, the NBC-affiliate in Waterloo, IA, as morning co-anchor.

Carter most recently worked at WHBQ, the Fox O&O in Memphis, where he led the investigative team. He made his debut  alongside Natasha Chughtai (pictured with Carter) and meteorologist Eileen Loan this week.

Carter replaces Jeff Eliasoph, who recently left KWWL for an opportunity at another television station, according to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.

Natasha Chughtai Joins KWWL From KLSR

Natasha Chughtai is set to become the newest morning anchor at KWWL in Cedar Rapids on October 24.

Chughtai, currently an anchor-reporter at KLSR in Eugene, OR, will replace Sunny Layne, who is leaving the station to spend more time with her family.

“I have some very big shoes to fill with Sunny leaving, but I cannot wait to start and move to the Waterloo-Ceder Falls area,” Chughtai wrote on the KWWL Facebook page.

She will co-anchor the morning newscast at the NBC-affiliate with Jeff Eliasoph and meteorologist Eileen Loan.
