KDVR Launches Sunday Political Show

KDVR COpoliticsDenver Fox affiliate KDVR has launched “#COpolitics — From the Source,” a weekly political show hosted by Eli Stokols. The show airs Sundays at 9 a.m., following “Fox News Sunday.”

“Eli championed the idea of doing the show outside the station in a non-studio environment. The result is a cool, contemporary-looking program that is truly unique and different,” KDVR news director Ed Kosowski wrote in a note to staff last week. “Thanks to everyone who worked incredibly hard for many weeks to make this show a reality.”

The show will be taped at The Source, an artisan food market in Denver. According to KDVR, the show will occasionally go on the road “to ‘the source’ of where the issues are having an impact on Coloradans lives.”

KDVR Announces Anchor Changes, Hires New Morning Team

Denver FOX affiliate KDVR has hired a new morning anchor team that includes former KCNC anchor Brooke Wagner. Wagner’s new co-anchor will be Kirk Yuhnke who joins KDVR from Phoenix ABC affiliate KNXV.

“We believe Brooke and Kirk, along with meteorologist Jennifer Broome and traffic anchor Ken Clark, will make a dynamic team,” KDVR news director Ed Kosowski told TVSpy. “They have the experience, passion and personality to make “Good Day Colorado” a unique morning newscast in this highly-competitive market.”

Both Wagner and Yuhnke, who go on-air two weeks from today on April 22, broke the news via social media.  Wagner chose twitter to announce, saying, “Friends, I’m thrilled and proud to announce I have a new TV home @KDVR ! I will start on #GoodDayColorado soon! Honored to join the team!” Read more

KDVR Reporter Eli Stokols Confronts Occupy Denver Protesters After They Crash His Live Shot

A confrontation between Occupy Denver protesters and a reporter turned nasty recently after the protesters walked into a KDVR live shot holding an obscene sign. After he was clear, the reporter, Eli Stokols, confronted the protesters: “When I’m live on f-cking television — and you can film this — when I’m live on television, you don’t come up and f-ck us up,” he said (video above).

Stokols spoke about the incident today with Westword, which first published the video:

When this first started, when the first showdowns were imminent, we were down there all the time, and this is not uncommon. I’ve done live shots with signs behind me saying “Fox News is the devil,” and that’s not a problem. I don’t even tell them to get out of the way, because they’re the reason why we’re there and they can say what they want. But saying something like “f-ck the police” on a live broadcast is different.  Read more
