WDIV to Revive Noon News Broadcast

WDIV_Local_4_ClickOnDetroitStarting today, viewers of Post-Newsweek’s Detroit NBC affiliate WDIV will once again be able to watch the Noon news over the air.

The half-hour “Local 4 News at Noon” will be anchored by Evrod Cassimy and meteorologist Brandon Roux.

The station said it took the Noon show off-air and online in August because it wanted to access what it said was a large audience watching the show while at work. But after the viewers asked to have the Noon news put back on-air, the station said it “decided to do so.”

KCNC reporter Evrod Cassimy talked  with Michael Moore at Occupy Denver yesterday, and the impromptu interview turned acrimonious when the subject of the filmmaker’s income came up.

Cassimy asked if Moore is part of the one percent, pointing out the filmmaker’s “rumored” net worth of $50 million.

“Is that what you do? Sell rumors?” Moore answered. “You’re just punk media, is all you are. You lie. You lie to people.” Watch the video, after the jump. Read more

KCNC Removes Picture of Anchor Evrod Cassimy with Chris Brown From Station Website

KCNC, the CBS owned-and-operated station in Denver, has removed a picture of brand-new anchor Evrod Cassimy and R&B singer Chris Brown from the station website after viewer complaints.

The Denver Westword reports that Cassimy’s recently-posted online bio included a picture of the anchor and Brown (right), who pleaded guilty in 2009 to assaulting his girlfriend at the time, Rihanna. In an email received by the Westward, one viewer writes: “WTF is Channel 4 thinking? Why would they allow THAT photo to be on their website? What if the dude was an OJ fan? Would they have drawn the line there?”

KCNC news director Tim Wieland told The Westword that the photo was taken during an interview conducted at Cassimy’s former station in Orlando. “We’ve decided to remove it from the bio page,” Wieland wrote. Read more
