Tulsa News Crew Attacked with Fireworks

A KOKI news crew was on location in Tulsa, along with a couple of police officers, for a story about a house that had hit by Roman Candles when they were attacked with fireworks.

KOKI reporter Dontaye Carter was hit in the back of the head and an officer was hit as well. Both men escaped without serious injuries.

Following the attack, police engaged in a shouting match with neighbors and Carter is seen on video trying to break up the argument (video inside). Read more

KGW Airs Fireworks Special Without Audio

Portland NBC-affiliate KGW aired a Fourth of July special Wednesday night that was perfect for those people who enjoy the sight of fireworks but can’t handle the loud noises.

Due to an apparent technical mishap, KGW aired its live, half-hour fireworks special with no audio. Not only were viewers unable to hear the boom of the fireworks, they also couldn’t hear anything that hosts Laurel Porter and Matt Zaffino were saying before and after the display.

KGW’s special, which ran from 10:00-10:30, cut into NBC’s coverage of the “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular” in New York, which did have audio. Read more

San Diego Fireworks Fail Rattles KNSD Newsroom

The massive Fourth of July fireworks fail in San Diego, in which a 15-minute show’s worth of pyrotechnics went off in 20 seconds, was so big it rattled the newsroom of local NBC station KNSD.

KNSD is located just across San Diego Bay from the site of the fireworks display and reporter Diana Guevara told viewers Wednesday night that the blast was felt through the station’s newsroom (video above). Read more
