Former KXAS Anchor Running for Congress Attacks His Old Station in Latest Political Ad

Former KXAS anchor Grant Stinchfield, a Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in Texas, has bought ad time on the Dallas NBC O&O to run ads attacking his former station.

“I used to bring you the news every night, but here’s what you didn’t know: too many times NBC refused to to let me tell the stories that you needed to hear,” Stinchfield says in the ad (watch above). “Was it liberal bias or simply the fear of losing ad dollars? I believe it was both.”

Dallas media blogger Ed Bark reports Stinchfield’s ad ran on the KXAS 4 p.m. newscast yesterday and will run again today. The NBC O&O released a statement yesterday on the decision to air the ad. Read more

Former KXAS Reporter Says Media Bias Is Reason He’s Running for Congress

Former KXAS reporter Grant Stinchfield says a major reason he’s now running for Congress is because he got tired of dealing with bias in the media.

A conservative Republican, Stinchfield left KXAS last spring and announced his run for Congress in August. In a recent interview with WFSB‘s Dennis House, Stinchfield said that he became fed up with the bias he confronted working as a reporter so he decided to pursue a position in which he could confront problems head-on.

“I firmly believe the left is leading us down the wrong path,” Stinchfield told House. “I believe in freedom, liberty, entrepreneurship–those are things I would have loved to have touted as a reporter. Now I have free reign.” Read more

Former KXAS Reporter Grant Stinchfield’s Campaign Covered by Rival Station KDFW

After weeks of speculation about his campaign, former KXAS reporter Grant Stinchfield officially announced his candidacy yesterday for the U.S. House of Representatives in the Texas 24th district. Stinchfield — who says the skills honed as an investigative reporter will help him “expose the waste and fraud that runs rampant” in DC — will challenge four-term incumbent Rep. Kenny Marchant in the Republican primary.

So far, the only Dallas station to devote coverage to Stinchfield’s campaign is KDFW, which is a Fox O&O (watch the video, above). KXAS, the NBC O&O in Dallas, has remained mum, but WBBH — the NBC affiliate in Fort Myers where Stinchfield worked before KXAS — mentioned his campaign on their 5 p.m. evening newscast August 16.

Former KXAS Reporter Grant Stinchfield Running for U.S. Congressional Seat

Former KXAS reporter Grant Stinchfield, who left the Dallas NBC O&O in April after seven years with the station, is running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Stinchfield, a Republican,  has not yet announced which seat he will run for.

Stinchfield has a campaign website up and has already produced a political ad (video above). “After two decades of covering politics, I became well aware you can’t change career politicians or the bureaucrats who work for them, but you can expose them,” Stinchfield writes on his website. “By serving in Congress, my battle plan is to give the power of information directly to the people.” Read more
