Iowa Man Accused of Using Local Meteorologist’s Name to Get Dates

A Davenport, IA, man has been caught allegedly using a local meteorologist identity to pick up women online.

Matt Wendt is accused of impersonating KWQC meteorologist Greg Dutra on social media.

According to Gawker, “Matt Wendt’s little plan fell apart when the real Greg Dutra tweeted at his girlfriend on Twitter, and one of Wendt’s prospects started questioning the real Dutra as to why he never mentioned that he was in a relationship.”

The Quad City Times reports Wendt was arrested May 9 and has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor identity theft.

KWQC Meteorologist Fights Off Laughing Fit After Depends Joke

KWQC meteorologist Greg Dutra fought off a fit of laughter on the air after he made a “Depends” joke during his forecast, which aired immediately after a commercial for the adult diapers (video above).

“Well, your weather forecast today ‘depends…’” Dutra said at the top of his forecast, trailing off as his colleagues at the anchor desk started chiding him for making the joke. “As soon as I saw it, I was like, it’s stacked right in front of me. I got to. It might be my only chance!” [h/t Los Angeles Daily News]
