While “The Texas Daily”, hosted by former WFAA news anchor Jeff Brady, may sound like any other news show, the on-air talent will look a bit more seasoned, to put it delicately.   Unlike other TV Stations who are always looking for the next fresh face, KTXD has hired anchors who appeal to its chosen demographic, the aging baby boomer, according to the station’s website,

“All of our commentators are extremely excited about this opportunity,” says Brian Joyce, KTXD-TV station manager. “Each one will give a perspective that is not only credible but also interesting to our viewers. We’re talking about journalists who have played huge roles in the landscape of TV news in the DFW market. Who wouldn’t want to watch a familiar face?”

Anchor Tracy Rowlett (far right) and meteorologist Troy Dungan (right) will be profiled in their retirement years by KTVT anchor Karen Borta, according to Dallas media blog Uncle Barky’s Bytes. The special segments are set to air during the week of February 14th.

Dungan, 74, spent over 30 years with WFAA, serving as the station’s chief meteorologist before retiring in 2007.

Rowlett, 74, became WFAA’s marquee anchor in 1975, teaming with Iola Johnson to anchor the station’s highly rated 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts. He jumped to KTVT in 1999 and eventually retired in 2008. continued…
