On the Move, 10/8/13

Jeff Herndon joins WFLD in Chicago as the anchor of the 9 p.m. newscast. He was previously an anchor and reporter at KAKE in Wichita.

Jan Jeffcoat joins WUSA in Washington, D.C., where she will anchor the 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. She was previously the host of Scripps’ syndicated newsmagazine “The List.”

Lisa Sylvester, a former anchor and correspondent at CNN, joins WPXI in Pittsburgh as anchor of the evening newscasts.

WUSA Adds Jan Jeffcoat as Anchor

WUSA has announced Jan Jeffcoat will join the Washington, D.C. CBS affiliate as co-anchor for the evening news.

“I’m excited to be coming home to family and the place where my husband grew up,” Jeffcoat said in a statement. “I’m also honored to join WUSA 9, one of the premier local television stations in the country!”

Jeffcoat left Chicago’s WFLD last year to co-host the Scripps nationally syndicated talk/news show “The List.”

She will co-anchor the station’s 5:00, 7:00 and 11:00 p.m. news alongside Derek McGinty. Her first day on air will be Sunday, September 22, the night the station airs the Emmy Awards.

A New Anchor Team on WFLD’s Noon Newscast?

Time Out Chicago’s Robert Feder has details on some upcoming changes at WFLD, the Fox O&O in Chicago, following Jan Jeffcoat‘s departure last month.

Anna Davlantes and Kori Chambers are expected to co-anchor a revamped noon newscast, which will kick off sometime next month. Davlantes currently anchors from 7 to 10 a.m., while Chambers currently anchors from 4:30 to 7 a.m. Feder reports that the pair are also “in line” to anchor a 5 p.m. weekday newscast that’s being considered for launch next year.

Patrick Elwood, who has anchored the noon newscast solo since Jeffcoat’s departure, is expected to return to full-time reporting duties.

Doug Kezirian joins EPSN in Bristol, CT as a studio anchor and host. Previously, he was a sports anchor and reporter at KTNV in Las Vegas.

Keith Russell joins WRC in Washington from WPVI in Philadelphia. Russell will anchor the noon newscast at WRC.

Jan Jeffcoat has been named host of “The List,” a new daily national newsmagazine. Previously, she was anchor at WFLD in Chicago.

Anchor Jan Jeffcoat Leaving Chicago’s WFLD

Jan Jeffcoat is leaving Chicago’s WFLD after five years at the Fox O&O, she announced last week.

Jeffcoat, the station’s noon anchor, has accepted what she described as her “dream job.” She has been named co-host of “The List,” a nightly newsmagazine produced by Scripps. Her last day at WFLD was Friday.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Patrick Elwood, Jeffcoat’s co-anchor on the noon newscast, will anchor solo until a replacement is named. WFLD is examining both internal and external candidates, the Tribune reports.
