Cincinnati’s WXIX Expands Morning Newscast

Cincinnatti Fox-affiliate WXIX is tacking an extra hour onto its morning newscast beginning in September.

The expansion of news programming from 10 to 11 a.m. will bring WXIX to seven hours of news each morning, the most of any station in the market, according to WXIX.

The extra hour, which debuts September 10, will be anchored by Tracey Johnson and Frank Marzullo (pictured), the current anchors of the 9 a.m. hour. The pair will be joined by meteorologist Katy Morgan three days a week and meteorologist Jeff Creighton for the remaining two days.

WEHT Meteorologist Scott Dimmich Joins WKRC

Cincinnati native Scott Dimmich, who is the morning meteorologist at WEHT in Evansville, is headed home. He will join WKRC next month as the weekend meteorologist.

Dimmich, who joined WEHT in 2009, said his last day will be November 4. “It’s tough to leave my colleagues and friends in the Tri-State, but I’m looking forward to taking what I’ve learned back to my hometown,” he told Ohio media blogger Jake Newkirk.

Dimmich joins WKRC a month after the departure of Jeff Creighton, who left the Cincinnati CBS-affiliate last month after inking a deal with rival station WXIX.

After 16 Years at WKRC, Meteorologist Jeff Creighton Signs On At Rival Station WXIX

WKRC meteorologist Jeff Creighton, who has been with the Cincinnati CBS-affiliate for 16 years, has signed on with rival station WXIX, the Fox-affiliate.

Creighton, who started at WKRC as a weather producer in 1995, will begin at WXIX on October 3. He replaces Pat Barry, who left WXIX to host a morning radio show.

“Jeff Creighton resigned from his position as weekend meteorologist with Local 12 on Friday, September 16th, to pursue another opportunity,” WKRC news director Kirk Varner said in a statement. “Because that opportunity is apparently with another station locally, he felt it was best that he make his resignation effective immediately. We have begun a search for his replacement.” Read more
