KGUN Announces Two New Hosts for ‘The Morning Blend’

Maria-Parmigiani-and-Tina-JABC affiliate KGUN has announced two new hosts for their Tucson-oriented lifestyle show, “The Morning Blend”: Maria Parmigiani and Tina Jennings

Jennings previously worked as an anchor and host at ABC affiliate WBKO in Bowling Green, KY. Parmigiani comes from CW affiliate WCWF in Green Bay, Wis, where she was a reporter and web content producer.

“We are thrilled to have such talented people hosting ‘The Morning Blend,’” KGUN vice president and general manager Jim Arnold said in a statement. “We think that their diverse experience and friendly personalities will add a wonderful dynamic to make the show an even greater success.”

“The Morning Blend” airs weekdays at 11:00 a.m. on KGUN and again at 1:00 p.m. on CW affiliate KWBA.

Tucson’s KWBA Launches Morning Newscast

kwba logoKWBA, the CW affiliate in Tucson, is launching a morning newscast on April 21. It will air from 7 to 8 a.m. as an extension of “Good Morning Tucson,” the morning newscast on sister station KGUN.

“I am excited that we will be able to provide our viewers with additional local news in the 7 a.m. hour,” KWBA vice president and general manager Jim Arnold said in a statement. “This is another opportunity for new viewers who already enjoy CW programs to get local news and weather they may not have seen before.”

The newscast will be anchored by Liz Kotalik with meteorologist April Madison and traffic reporter Allen Kath.

KGUN Names Sally Shamrell Co-Host of ‘The Morning Blend’

Sally Shamrell is joining Tucson ABC affiliate KGUN as co-host of “The Morning Blend,” the station’s daytime lifestyle and information show.

It is a return Tucson for Shamrell, who worked at NBC affiliate KVOA until 2003. Since then, she has worked in infomercials and as an actress.

“We are very pleased to have Sally back in Tucson where she can utilize her great talents in the unique environment of The Morning Blend on KGUN9 and CW58,” KGUN general manager Jim Arnold said in a statement.

Shamrell will co-host the program with Amanda Guralski.

News Director Forrest Carr Out at KGUN

FTVLive is reporting Forrest Carr is leaving the Tucson ABC affiliate KGUN.

Carr had been re-hired as news director in 2009. He served as news director at KGUN from 1997 until 2001.

In December, the station hired Jim Arnold to replace former general manager Julie Brink who was let go in November.

Carr has also worked as news director at WFLA in Tampa, FL, WFTX in Ft. Myers, FL, and KRQE in Albuquerque, NM.

Jim Arnold Named VP-GM at Tucson’s KGUN-KWBA

Jim Arnold has been named vice president and general manager of Journal Broadcast Group’s Tucson operations, which include KGUN, KWBA and four radio stations.

From 2000 to 2010, Arnold was the general manager at KGUN’s crosstown rival, CBS affiliate KOLD. He has also worked as VP-GM of WQRF in Rockford, Ill. and KMAR-KCIT in Amarillo, Texas.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Tucson stations of the Journal Broadcast Group,” Arnold said in a statement. “Many of the talented people here have been peers and friends for many years and I look forward to working with them and the entire team in serving our audiences and advertisers.”

Arnold replaces Julie Brink, who left KGUN-KWBA last month.
